Less than 10 miles from numerous marinas and sandy beaches along the Pacific Ocean, waterfront recreation is a big draw in the area. You can find everything from sailing, kayaking, and surfing along the area's waterfront, and the nearby Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area features hiking trails, sports facilities, and other outdoor recreation. Sightseeing and shopping are major pastimes, and you can catch everything from concerts and comedy to festivals and sporting events at The Forum, an iconic venue that hosts all kinds of live entertainment in a striking, Roman-inspired building.

Like much of the LA area, Inglewood has a Mediterranean climate, with warm, dry summers, and mild, relatively wet winters. Average highs peak around 76 degrees in August and September, though temperatures have been known to spike into the 90s from time to time. Winters are on the cooler side, and average lows dip down to 48 degrees in December and January, with highs in the mid-60s. Just a few miles inland from sandy beaches on the Pacific Ocean, Inglewood itself is a fairly dense city, and you'll find lots of residential areas dotted with shopping plazas. The nearest airport is in Los Angeles Intl. (LAX), located 3.1 mi (5 km) from the city center. If you can't find a flight that works for your travel itinerary, you can also fly into Hawthorne, CA (HHR-Hawthorne Municipal), which is 2.8 mi (4.5 km) away.
You can get around Inglewood by jumping on the metro at Downtown Inglewood Station, Hawthorne/Lennox Station or Crenshaw Station.
