If you want peace and quiet, beautiful views and lots of space, this is the place.
The house could use a few upgrades… more ac, better lighting in kitchen, more chairs, night table lights… but overall a great house. We all 10 loved it.
I would like to thank Kevin for allowing us to use his home. Bert met us at the airport and took us shopping, we then got to the villa and wow what a place, the people in the neighbourhood were all friendly and offered advise on where to go. The island is a place of dreams and would definitely go back to Barbados and stay at Orions View. Thank you again for the use of your amazing house. 😁🌞

Lovely spacious house in gorgeous location away from the tourist traps
We were 6 friends sharing Orions View for a week of sunshine and relaxation and we got just that! The house is located on a pretty rugged coastline so views are amazing but there is no real beach to speak of. The pool and outside area is lovely though and was perfect for us. We did venture out to stretch our legs and met some lovely locals along the way. Wandered to the lighthouse and local mini mart.. mostly non perishables in there so recommend the main supermarket about 15 mins away for ‘proper’ shopping. Even better, support the locals and have jackie across the street cook for you! She looked after us brilliantly well with traditional cooking for breakfast and dinner! Smooth arrival and securing of a taxi with Bert and whilst we had a couple of things we wanted sorting on arrival, Kevin and Bert were all over it and everything was sorted the next day. We holiday in the Caribbean a lot and this house, compared to others we have stayed in, is a well maintained and comfortable family space. No rental in the Caribbean is perfect but this is a really lovely home. It is set in a very ‘local’ environment which we loved but if you are expecting a tourist trap, you won’t necessarily like it. Think local animals on the land next door and a few roaming goats visiting the garden! Breeze from the sea is amazing!! We never used the AC at all- it is in the downstairs master bedroom and one of the upstairs bedrooms.. we never needed it in either, lots of fans keep the sea breeze circulating. Easy access to local buses..we spent a day on the beach at Browne’s.. Lobster Alive. 20usd for 2 loungers and a big brolly with a drinks voucher thrown in. We ate dinner here on our last night.. bloody amazing food! Approx 35usd in a taxi each way. Not sure what else we can add that is useful.. we loved our week at Orions View and would definitely stay again.

Outstanding!
We have visited Barbados many times over the last 30 years. This however was our first visit staying in St. Philip. It was a family vacation with our adult children, their spouses, and two grandchildren. The house was spectacular and the weather and vistas were stellar. Kevin, the owner checked in with us to make sure everything was as it should be. Bert, his on site manager was very attentive throughout our stay without being intrusive. Jackie across the street cooks a mean Marlin fish or Chicken dinner negating the need to go to Oistins for the fish fry,,, cheaper and better. Her Karaoke night on the Errol Barrow holiday was special. We discovered our Son-in-law was a closet Rock star as the crowd went wild with his renditions of "Home for a Rest" and "Island Song". Beer is a very important staple and Jackie supplies it either by the bottle, or by the case at very competitive prices.
The "Big House" as we called it was phenomenal. Spotless and yes BIG. Although we were four couples and two children we never had a sense of being on top of each other. 4 of the 5 bedrooms have large private balconies three of which face the sea. We did find the one bedroom facing the street without air conditioning was rendered too hot to sleep in.
The Kitchen is very well appointed with modern gas appliances and ample pots and pans. We had several memorable BBQs on the Weber grill and roasts in the convection oven. Our meat we brought from Canada was our best decision as we have found Beef, Pork, and Ham here very expensive. Ensure however you acquire a Ministry of Agriculture permit to do so.
As beautiful as the house was, we spent all our time outside by the pool, or on the balconies enjoying the cool soothing trade winds and the stunning ocean views.
The kids loved the farm animals in the field next door. There were cows, sheep, a pig and her piglets. The cow and sheep would occasionally visit and graze in the backyard by the pool. There were lots of monkeys, cats and dogs and a lone mongoose.
Our last night we went to the East Point Bar and grill . There were seventeen of us and the food was delicious and the service gracious and prompt. At the end of the evening we were personally escorted through the fields back to the house under a starlit sky with the ever prominent constellation Orion guiding our may.
In closing, the village of Marley Vale is quaint, its residents delightful, and at times lively. We will be back!

Perfect week away!
We really enjoyed the stay! 5 massive clean bedrooms with bathrooms worked really well for us! It is a bit far from the city but $1 exciting bus ride will take you there in about 45min. Jackie's bar and the East Point Grill are very close and very convenient when you don't fancy cooking.
Make sure you stock up on mosquito repellent and after bite remedies as those little bugs can be a real pain.
The pool and the view is amazeballs! Nothing more relaxing than getting a glass of rum by the pool watching the fireflies and listening to the waves in the evenings!
We had some funny visitors like monkeys, lizards and local sheeps but none of them would get in the house.
Bert was very helpful, on time and full of good information and advice.
Taxi to/from the airport - $35
Taxi to/from Bridgetown - you need to negotiate the price before hand otherwise you might pay more that you should. There was 7 of us so we usually paid ac $35 - $50 (depending where to/from)
About the house: kitchen stocked with all the amenities needed to cook and serve food and drinks. Toys for kids, floats for the pool. Good working wifi. AC in 2 rooms, rest of the rooms equipped with fans. Towels and hand soap in bathrooms. The house was clean and well maintained.

Overwhelmingly beautiful!!!
Sitting high on the rugged east coast of Barbados, in all its elements, is this jewel of a home. It’s very spacious and clean. The unobstructed views of the ocean, the pool, and decor blend perfectly together to help you escape to relaxation. Everything you needed from cooking utensils to BBQ grill, and TV with cable is there to make your stay even more so homie. And if you don’t want to go out or cook, across the street is Ms. Jackie who will homecook Bajan breakfast, lunch and dinner for you when requested.

Unbelievable!!!
This is my second stay at the villa and if possible it was better than my first time. This is probably because I was able to navigate around the island. The house is beautiful and if you need space to yourself there are so many areas in the home where you can sit and relax.
As per usual working with the owner Kevin is an amazing experience. He is deligent, accommodating and will do everything possible to make your stay a positive experience. If I could rate this place a 10 I would without hesitation.

Not quite what we thought but still fantastic
A couple things worth noting about this home that caught us a little off guard were the lack of a 3 minute walk to the beach and the general lack of air conditioning. The A/C was definitely a mistake on us by not seeing the more detailed description explaining it was only in the master suite. As others have said, however, much of the house has more than sufficient breeze for comfort all day. There were two rooms upstairs that had no breeze and we moved the mattresses into the master - everyone in our 8 person party ended up happy.
The "beach" that is a 3 minute walk is more of a rocky cove with a borderline treacherous walk to reach. We went once during our week long stay and never went back.
On to the fantastic. This house is HUGE with a private balcony for every room, and the most gorgeous views of any tropical destination we've visited. The pool is not huge, but all 8 of us were able to play in it together. Bert, the groundskeeper, is fantastic. He was more than happy to give us advice on things to see, took fantastic care of the property, and was generally an amazing person. A month later and I still speak with him!
Jackie across the street is wonderful. You must have her prepare at least one meal for you. I'd recommend a traditional Bajan meal and let her handle the menu. She accommodated members of our party with Celiac as well as a vegetarian. I can't say enough good about the meal, and the evening conversations we had at Jackie's!
Though there really isn't a beach within walking distance, Bottom Bay is a 5 minute drive at most. It is the absolute definition of paradise. At the top (there are stairs carved into the cliff down to the actual beach) were gentlemen selling fresh coconuts they climbed palms to retrieve. They open the coconut and you can choose to drink it plain, flavored, or flavored with rum. There is a "cave" on the beach that's huge and a reprieve from the hot midday sun, the water is perfectly turquoise, and the waves aren't overpowering if you have little ones. Standing in the perfect white sand, sipping fresh coconut, and absorbing the view was overwhelming. Apparently it's not a super well known beach - virtually private!
The island is small so anything can be seen easily. We visited Animal Cave, Harrison's Cave, and toured a rum distillery. The week went by too fast and nobody wanted to leave. I'd highly recommend the house and destination. Worth note - Bajan people are the most friendly folks in the world we've ever met!

Superb venue in a marvellous unspoilt area of Barbados
A fantastic house with great views. Listening to the waves breaking on the beach from our bedroom balcony during the night. A perfect stay
Walk from here to East Point grill for great music, food and of course a few Rum Punch . Across the street to Jackie's bar for evening cocktails with the locals.
The house is in need of some updating now but nothing particularly to spoil our holiday. Bert always available for any help when needed .
Crane beach nearby one of our favourites.
Bathsheba very special and food at the Round House overlooking the beach was excellent.
We will return

WORTH THE VIEW
Our recent stay in this spacious home was just what we needed to relax and enjoy the beautiful Island of Barbados. The rooms had spectacular views and the gentle ocean breeze kept us relaxed and comfortable. Each room was conveniently located for maximum privacy and included its own full bath. We were grateful for the personal attention given us right from the start. We were met at the Airport by the Home’s Caretaker Bert. Anything we needed, he made sure we received. Spending a week in a new home in a foreign country has its challenges and sometimes our expectations are not quite what we imagined. However, the first night we arrived, we were warmly treated with a home (local) cooked meal by Jackie from the Grill across the street. She was available to cook on short notice and provided the meals at a reasonable price. The Owner was available for any questions that came up and even allowed us to use his phone to call the U.S.
There were some slight misconceptions with the Property. The short walk to the Beach below was longer than expected and the Beach itself was really not appropriate for swimming or sun bathing. However, the Beach at Bottom Bay and the Crane Beach, both close by, were worth visiting. The Home could use some minor repairs with the windows but for the most part was clean and tidy for our comfort.
Overall, the stay was enjoyable and worth the rental value. Any adjustments or concerns were warmly welcomed by the Owner which made us feel that our views were important and would lead to possible changes that would make future visitors happier and more satisfied.

Spacious villa with a view to die for!
Our UK party of 8 found the villa spacious and well-equipped. Numerous bathrooms, the pool, the ocean view. Wow!
Owner, Kevin, was extremely helpful from the start. His suggestion of pre-booking a 'Jackie' meal for our arrival worked well. We took advantage of Jackie's culinary talents twice during our stay and sipped cold beer and rum cocktails several times at her bar on our doorstep.
Other dining experiences we loved were East Point Bar and Grill, The Roundhouse (another view to die for!), Cafe Luna, Marco Polo and various restaurants at The Crane Hotel.
The younger members of our party were delighted not to lose their lifeline (internet access!) during our stay. The villa's wi-fi worked well considering there were times when all 8 of us were accessing it at once.
Our 'away from it all' villa was a great base for visiting the island's attractions. Nearby beautiful beaches such as Bottom Bay and Bathsheba, or a 30-40 minute drive took us to calm, aquamarine Caribbean beaches like Alleyne Beach and Pebble Beach. At Mullins Bay we swam out to a floating raft with benches. Watching the sunset from that raft was a moment of magic I will never forget! Other highlights included a visit to St Nicholas Abbey, a walk along the boardwalk at Hastings, the Mount Gay Rum Distillery tour and a brief escape from the heat in the Harrison Caves.
The biggest highlight was our snorkel trip with Therapy Charters. Our crew of 2 sailed us to the perfect Caribbean location for swimming with turtles and shipwrecks.
The villa's drive-way was perfectly sized for our 2 hire cars. Although there are regular bus services everywhere I'd recommend hiring your own vehicle, ideally 4-wheel drive as there are numerous pot-holes, particularly hard to spot post-sunset!
We knew that the villa had no air conditioning, and were happy to take a chance on sea-breezes and fans. For most of our household this was adequate, but some of us did struggle to sleep, especially on nights when the breeze had dropped as it got very hot and sticky. If the choice was mine, I'd come for a return visit to Orion's View only if they installed air conditioning, but I know it wasn't such an issue with other members of my party. It's a matter of preference. If you're not usually bothered about air con, you'll probably be fine. I'm guessing air con would bump up the price, somewhat, so it depends on what's a bigger priority for you. Over all, you’re getting value for money and a real gem of a property.

Magical!!
My fiance and I had the pleasure of staying at Orion's View at the beginning of February, for 7 nights. It was just the two of us and to say this place was excessive for two people is an understatement, we felt like celebrities. The pictures on the website do not do this place justice. It is a lot bigger in person.
Bert (Orion's caretaker) met us at the airport and helped us load our luggage into our rental car. He then took us grocery shopping and showed us were to get the best deals on produce. After we stocked up, he took us to our abode for the week.
Orion's view is located at the end of a cul-de-sac in a residential neighborhood. The neighbors are incredibly friendly. The women across the street has a little bar and restaurant and is one hell of a cook. Her name is Jackie and Bert will introduce you to her when you arrive. Lisa and Andrew, the neighbors to the left of Orion's View have a boat and take people on snorkeling tours. Take advantage of these connections during your stay, you will be pleased that you did.
The villa was well furnished and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. There were books, magazines, a large selection of tv channels and games. You really don't need to leave if you don't want to. Something that was a nice surprise for us was the heart shaped jacuzzi style bath tub in the master bedroom. The salt water pool was fantastic but the hot tub did not work. This did not bother us much, as we used the jacuzzi in our bathroom during our stay.
Below the house is a small beach. It is absolutely gorgeous, but the currents are too strong for swimming. It is so picturesque that my future husband proposed to me there. Keep an eye out for rainbows. We saw 4 in one day. We saw a double rainbow and one that actually ended in Orion's back yard. We didn't even know that this was scientifically possible.
Our trip was magical and I promise you will not be disappointed if you stay at Orion's view.
P.S. If you want to see a bit of history, check out Sam Lord's Castle. If you walk to the beach there are these two local guys that are always there. They know everything about it. Their names are Fred and Derek. They are super cool. Tell them Jenny and Josh sent you.

Loved our Vacation at Orion's View!
We had the pleasure of staying at Orion’s View for 8 Days – May 16 thru 24. I’d been planning the vacation for over a year and had been talking to Kevin (owner) about the villa since Feb. 2013. There were 7 of us travelling together. The villa is exactly as pictured, and better in some cases. Kevin is truly a pleasure to deal with, and the caretaker, Bert is very happy and eager to please. We rented our van from Stoute’s on Kevin’s recommendation. Bert met us at the airport exit and assisted us in the rental (we added him to our rental contract so that he was able to drive the van too). We loaded our luggage and guests in the van and his vehicle and followed him to the grocery store for some ‘essentials’ on the way to the villa. Driving on the left side of the road was a new experience for my husband, but not difficult if you are careful and conscious of where you are driving at all times! The grocery store at Six Roads (Emerald City) is quite large and has a large variety of all products. In the same vicinity, there is also a Chefette (fast food – try the Roti) as well as a couple Chinese food restaurants. Upon arrival at the villa, we found it to be more than sufficient to accommodate all of us, with much room to spare. You are located in a very residential area. We found it to be very safe and the people are very friendly. The villa was well furnished and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Please note, there is no air conditioning. Each room has a ceiling fan and several have an additional floor fan. Bert showed us around the villa, made sure we had enough towels (beach and pool) and then took us across the road and introduced us to the owner of Jackie’s Bar and Grill. Jackie is a very pleasant woman. She explained what services she offered and that her busy nights are Friday and Saturday (Karaoke Night is loud, but only the one night). We took advantage of her services 5-6 nights that we were there – ordering our dinners, and one night, a family style Bajan supper. Her prices are very reasonable (and it sure beat us cooking!) at $8-12 per person (depending on what you ordered). As a take out restaurant her service worked well. Remember to order the night before, or in the morning, so she has time to make up the dinners and can meet any needs. So, as far as the villa, we all found it comfortable and enjoyed the pool immensely. As far as negatives go, we had some difficulti

A Home Away From Home
Incredible villa and location. We recently visited for a week and had a fantastic stay. First and foremost the view is among the best on the island. Bert the groundskeeper greeted us at the airport and guided us to the villa which was good considering that even though it is close to the airport it may be a little difficult to find at night for the first time. Bert was very helpful and showed us around the large villa. There is a two level pool that overlooks the ocean as well as a large patio area. Each of the three bedrooms in the back has walk out balconies that overlook the ocean. There are a total of five bedrooms and each has a full bathroom. We were slightly concerned after reading some of the older reviews but I’m happy to say that we had no issues at all. The villa has WIFI and full satellite TV. There is both a phone for local calls and another phone in the office room to make free calls to North America which we found quite handy. We had no issues at all with mosquitoes but we did bring some repellant just in case. There seems to be a constant breeze so we kept the windows opens most of the time as well as the balcony doors which made sleeping comfortable. The kitchen seemed to have everything we needed to prepare our own meals. The villa is located in a quiet residential area away from the tourist area. Jackie and her family operate a small bar across the street which was nice if we wanted to walk over for a drink. She also prepares very nice meals if you don’t feel like cooking. We read previous reviews containing complaints about the karaoke across the street and just could not see what the big deal was. They had it for a few hours on a weekend night and it was lots of fun. People who complain about this should never consider the tourist side of the island then.
The villa is located about 25 minutes from the main tourist area and about 10 minutes from The Crane resort which is a great place for a nice dinner. There is a small beach at the bottom of the hill which is about a 10 minute walk down a path. We found many amazing beaches just a short drive away. Some of these beaches had stairs leading down to them so they might be tough for those with trouble walking.
It appears that Bert and the new owners are doing a lot of work to the villa and we were very satisfied to say the least. I would recommend it to anybody that may be sick of the traditional buffet/tourist type resorts. This to me is the next level of vacationing.

Beautiful Villa!
We thoroughly enjoyed Maddens View. The villa was as advertised and the view is stunning! My only gripe was that the cable was out our entire 2 week stay so bring DVD's if you are bringing kids or love to watch TV.
The property owner was very helpful with making our stay comfortable and the cleaning staff were thorough. I would stay here again and again!
This villa was exactly as described. You definitely need a rental car. Bert, the manager, was great. The pool was dirty and having issues but he immediately responded once we let him know and worked on it. Would stay here again!!
We loved this beautiful villa. We were a group of 8 and we were very comfortable. The view is amazing and the breeze is plentiful and we welcomed it .No mosquitoes. Loved listening to the rooster and nearby cows mooing
Nice big house.
Private beach really not useable, as hard to get too and really not swimmable.
Definitely need a vehicle, as a drive to main attractions and stores.
Nice and close to airport.
Too bad there is not more air conditioning in areas of the house. Sleeping in the two bedrooms that had air was good.
Well priced, but that is because of the location.
Some appliances needed attention, fridge, washer, dryer.

Barbados is the most beautiful island in the Caribbean, and I’ve always enjoyed spending all my free time on the stunning east coast of the island. The villa boasts one of the best views on the entire island and I am happy to share the experience with my guests.

The villa truly enjoys one of the nicest views on the whole island with panoramic views to the Ragged Point Lighthouse which is on the Southeast corner of the island and North to Culpepper, Skeetes Bay and Martins Bay. The sunrise is absolutely incredible with the full ocean view
What makes this property unique
The property always seems to have a nice breeze. The view of the southeast coast and always has a big, beautiful surf. The villa has 5 verandahs that overlook the ocean. Each bedroom has its own full bathroom. It's a wonderful area to just go for a walk to the lighthouse or a hike along the coast. Some of the nicest beaches in the Caribbean are very close by as well.
